"Above the Brightness of the Sun"

from $22.00

This painting did not come easy for me.

There was a lot of push and pull, scraping away and starting again… a lot of feelings of frustration and the temptation to not finish because things weren’t working out how I thought they should, or as quickly as I would have liked.

I’m glad it happened that way. Painting people, or places, always gives you a deeper understanding and appreciation for that “thing”. You learn to know it in a difference, more intimate way. It reveals little secrets to you and you in turn give little bits of yourself to create what you feel inside. It’s a beautiful dance to be apart of.

While Painting the Sacred Grove, I had a lot of time to reflect on what happened there and how it changed the future, forever. About the struggles and hardships it brought, the persecution, towns destroyed, homes burnt down, people run out… people dying. It was not an easy or quick thing… I also thought about all the miracles, the lives that were changed, the hope that was given, the families and friendships that were formed, and the power of Heaven it brought to the Earth. It’s pretty incredible… to know that this is where it all started. So I’m glad it didn’t come easy. It felt as if the process of painting it was in a way, like the events that came as a result of what happened here, and that’s pretty special.
